We're Heather Horner and Casey Gibson, the co-founders of Clever Octopus. Forty-plus years between us in L&D, leadership development, and executive coaching across tech, healthcare, finance, and global organizations.

Both of us walked out of senior corporate roles in our fifties — not on schedule, not how we'd have written it. Both of us did the panic-applying before we figured out what came next. Both of us built Clever Octopus from what actually worked when we did this for ourselves.

Casey Gibson

Casey spent over 20 years as an L&D leader, master facilitator, and performance consultant across industries. Losing her father and several close friends far too young left her with a bone-deep conviction that life is too short for work that doesn't light you up. That's not abstract for her. When she was laid off, it crystallized something she'd been feeling for years — that although she loved the work and leading teams, she'd spent too long inside corporations that dimmed her, wearing what she calls the jacket two sizes too small.
